ABSTRACT: This study was carried out aboard "R/V MTA Sismik 1", off Sinop,,, to investigate geological and tectonic features. The data obtained, have reve.al.ed that the. basemen! was a volcanic unit» overlain, by the `thin, recent deposits. The sea floor seems to be affected, by some tectonic features... According to all seismic data related to ihe area, the Tertiary and more recent deposits pinch oui the Upper-Cretaceous aged basement, in both north and south, side, of the area.
