ABSTRACT: At a place, the geology and tectonic of the region must be known in detail, in order to outline the geometry of the borate ore body which are planned to be mined. Besides that, if` the detailed mineralogy of the borate deposits as well as weathering and mineral transformations of the borate minerals are known, the mining,, storing and die marketing problems of these deposits would be reduced considerably.. It is aliso very important that the selling, of `the processed products of the borate minerals rather than marketing, the row `borate materials would, be much more profitable, Therefore, to increase to contribution of the borate deposits to the national income,,, it is advisable to invest on the industry and. the substructure which produce the processed products of the borates.
ABSTRACT: In preseni, healt is one of the new interests of geology.A connection, between the distribution of the elements and the health of the living beings on earth can be established through the preparation of geochemical maps. The dosts formed from, certain minerals may cause various pneumocomeses when, exhaled. Il is suggested that there is a connection between stomack, pancreas» kidney, ovarium cancer and. dusts of some minerals, Several minerals have been `detected in gall or` winery stones also. Meanwhile -a stone and some minerals, are used in. pharmaceutical technology. In preseni geological engineers should think of solutions, for` `the medical and pharmaceutical problems.
ABSTRACT: This study was carried out aboard "R/V MTA Sismik 1", off Sinop,,, to investigate geological and tectonic features. The data obtained, have reve.al.ed that the. basemen! was a volcanic unit» overlain, by the `thin, recent deposits. The sea floor seems to be affected, by some tectonic features... According to all seismic data related to ihe area, the Tertiary and more recent deposits pinch oui the Upper-Cretaceous aged basement, in both north and south, side, of the area.
ABSTRACT: The fossils which are involved in the Lutetian limestones exposed around Orhaniye village in the north of Ankara,, show some angular shear strains due to the .folding processes. Ä strain ratio of R = 1.40 - 1.48 is obtained by using bilaterally .symmetrical fossils as strain markers. This value is compatible to the crustel shortening of the area which had been formed by folding..
ABSTRACT: In this study which aims to enlighten the tectonic properties of the Saimbeyli (Adana) region locating at the western pan. of Eastern Taurus,,, the character of stratigraphie sequences as well as the tectonic development of folds» faults and unconformities, show the visible and advanced structural events .fanned during Alpine orogenies,, llercinian Orogenic phase can only be seen, on the unconformity of Upper Pennian. This, indicates that there, was no erogenic event effect the area tectonically from Cambrian to the end of Lower Carboniferous. All the rock units in the investigated area were effected by Alpine orogenies and therefore several folds (N-S and NE-SW in direction),, overturned folds,, unconformities, faults» thrust faults and overlhrusts occured.
ABSTRACT: Th.e conglomerate, which was investigated in south western Bolu,, is located wilhin the Kurşunlar Member of Yaylalar Formation (Tunç and Kazancı,, 1980). The main emphasis in this, study was placed on the direction and strike of transportation., The strikes of transportation were established by measuring the longitudinal .axes ("A" axes) of 1000 pebbles and cobbles. Because there was no structural evidences.» the direction of transportation were- esiablished by the .investigation of thin sections of various pebbles and cobbles.
